Rambo

Yet another quick drawing from my sketchbook.

Starbucks Girl

A start and finish view of a portrait I did of a friend. I actually prefer the less finished version over the final one. I feel I over worked it, but she loved it. I guess that's all that matters.

Dean

A quick drawing of a friend's son done in my Aquabee sketchbook.

Zelda - unfinished

This was the beginning stage of a portrait that I did of a friend. Unfortunately I handed it off before I could get a final scan. The paper I used, which was a smooth bristol board, would not allow me to get the rich darks that I prefer to get. I've since been using a velum bristol but I still prefer to use Aquabee drawing paper. It seems to have the grain and tooth that I want and allows me the rich darks that I love.

Daniel Craig

A drawing from my sketchbook of Daniel Craig. I didn't really put much time into this piece since it was only meant as something to keep my busy at that time. Still, I think it came out quite nice.

Yoda

One of my earlier grahite drawings. I can't really call this one a portrait but I'll fit it in this category anyway. I adjusted the darks and lights in photoshop, a little too much if you ask me. I now prefer to leave the drawings raw (without much digital adjustments).

Bogey 3 - Graphite

My third and final Humphrey Bogart. "Here's lookin' at you, kid."

Bogey 2 - Graphite

My second Bogey. Reference from The African Queen.

Bogey 1 - Graphite

Humphrey Bogart has always been one of my favorite actors. This is the first of three Bogarts that I have done.

Charlie 3

The third Charlie Chaplin portrait. This is my favorite after Charlie-1. Again, I used the mechanical pencils with the graphite powder blended with a soft watercolor brush.
After I had fixed it with a workable fixatif I realized that it would have been a stronger piece if I had remembered to blend out the shadow under the bottom lip. WHOOPS! Too late now. But still, one of my favorites.

Charlie 2

My second Charlie Chaplin portrait. Done with graphite pencil and graphite powder. The pencils I use are usually mechanical pencils. Once I lay down the graphite I will blend it in using blending stomps. I work in small circular motions with the pencil and then the same with the stomps. The background was done with a soft watercolor brush and some graphite powder.

Charlie 1

This was the first Charlie portrait I had done. The actual finished piece was over worked, (atleast that's what i felt) so I took an earlier scan and added an old photo feel to the canvas using photoshop. This was the first of three Charlies.
